    I built both of mine just because i could not justify all that money at one time. The knowledge of building it is worth every penny you would spend buying a complete one. Ive also found with certain brands youll end up changing certain things that you could have built in the first place.

    Also, does buying an AR piece by piece and putting it together make it unregulated? Or do I have to do paperwork for a certain part, etc?

    The stripped lower is regulated. You gotta to PPW and play the waiting game on that. You can buy as many uppers, parts kits and trimmings as you have $'s and have them shipped to you.
