I'm not going to lie to you guys....I know very little about the AR platform. I inherited this from a relative. Can you all tell me about it? I believe it is an M15 HBAR?

Very nice rifle! You should be proud to have that one.

It is an A2 style carbine. 16" barrel. The only way to tell if it is a true HBAR is to pull the handguards and see if it is a thick barrel under them.

    Very nice.

Looks like you have a 16" mid-length chrome lined barrel chambered in 5.56. Can't tell, the twist rate looks like 1:8 maybe, A2 upper receiver, standard furniture, with collapsible stock. Gun looks in good stock condition.

Looks to be in pristine condition. Safe queen perhaps.

Yup- no copper jacket smearing around the front sight adjustment!

Nice rifle. I recommend you get a sling and some mags and shoot hell out of it. Shoot the irons for now, don't worry about an optic. It's a fixed carry handle anyway. Just master the optics.

Even if it ain't a heavy barrel, it's still legal for you to take possession of it 'cuz you inherited it, so that don't matter.

    Nice one.

Anyone here remember when Armalite bought out Eagle Arms? Late '80s early '90s? It's got an M-4 carb stock.

You have a very nice rifle there. If I were you I'd sign up for a class and then shoot the heck out of it practicing what you learn!
