    Oh. Mother. Of. GOD.

Number 1 favorite MG to shoot, hands down. .50 cal is fun, but the 240B goes through rounds sooo much faster :D

One of these days, I'd love to SAW something in half with one of those. Simply magnificent.

You're mistaken. Only the M249 is for SAWing. The M240 is for general purpose pumpkin killing, which is why it's called a GPPKMG in military circles. The nomenclature is pronounced "em two forty bravo" because that's what everyone cheers when you hit your target will all 5-7 rounds of your burst.

So what's the difference between the M240B and the M240G?

    I still like the M60E !

I did a stint as a 60 gunner and really enjoyed it but I have a passion for all high cyclic rate platforms... Especially when someone else is buying the rounds.

I think the G has spade grips and functions as a mounted machine gun.

Actually it appears that I was wrong. The E has the spades. From wiki:

The M240 allows for commonality throughout the Marine Corps whether the weapon is used in an infantry, vehicular, or airborne role. The M240G is the ground version of the original M240 or M240E1, 7.62 mm medium class weapon designed as a coaxial/pintle mounted machine gun for tanks and LAVs. The M240G can be modified for ground use by the installation of an "infantry modification kit", (a flash suppressor, front sight, carrying handle for the barrel, a buttstock, infantry length pistol grip, bipod, and rear sight assembly). The M240G lacks a front heat guard, and as such is a few pounds lighter than the M240B, weighing in at 25.6 lb. The M240G has three gas settings, allowing this weapon to fire between 650 and 950 rounds per minute.

    Back in MD sadly
He always has the good stuff I wish I could have. He's like my role model LOL.
The other day I walked in and he showed me his full-auto RPD that I was extremely envious about.
