Always liked the look of the Mossy bullpup-- mean as hell!

My IMPULSE buy at Whitemarsh Arms today. Never seen one of these before today. It's a Weatherby PA-459 (parked beside an old Benelli Nova).

Comparing it to the Nova, the slide travel is 3.5" vs. 4.5" on the Benelli-- nice and short. Of course, it wont chamber 3.5" shells, but I don't want that in a HD shotty.

Came with a pic rail on the forend, a pic rail on top for an optic, removable ghost ring rear sight, red fiber optic raised and winged front sight.

A full pound lighter than the Benelli @ 6 lbs. 12 oz empty with a Streamlight TLR-1.

Slide release is easier to get at than the Nova.

trigger group is mostly plastic with a stamped steel and chromed hammer. Trigger is a bit thin but breaks cleanly at maybe 6 pounds.

Looks like a Remington style bolt.

Lock up is tight and feels smooth. If nothing flies off when I shoot her for the first time, I will be happy. Wish I knew something about it before I bought it.

My box of 250 shotshells came in today. Winchester "military grade" 00 buck. I have "appropriately" marked the box "SHTF" :innocent0

My shotgun is a Remington 870 tactical with the XS ghost ring sights and a +2 round mag extension installed by Remington. :party29:

Also, I'm contemplating getting a stock with a pistol grip, preferably one where I can still use the nylon shell-holder-thingy. Any recommendations?

I'd recommend the Knoxx SpecOps stock. Believe that's the one Alucard had on his Remmy when I shot it last year. Ate up the recoil like nobody's business. Won't be able to use the nylon shell-holder thingy (love that technical term :D) on it, but if you're dead set on using it, wear it on your firing forearm. Probably be better off getting a rigid shell carrier mounted on your Remmy.

If you can't find the stock through any of the Industry Partners here on the forum, check out TacticalShotgunner. They're based in Indianapolis, members over on INGunOwners, and good people. http://www.tacticalshotgunner.com/

    Now....where'd ya get the ammo?

I can recommend the Knoxx SpecOps recoil reducing stock.
I have one on my 590 Mariner and it is the shiznit.

I would estimate 150 rounds of 00 Buck, 150 rounds of Slugger, and 300 rounds of #7. Maybe more, but no less.

does it really reduce the recoil? i was thinking about getting one of my mossberg 500. with the stock could you compare it to a rifle? could you compare it to a marlin 336 .30-30?

does it really reduce the recoil?

    Absolutely.

When the weapon fires, the recoil shoves the whole assembly back into a spring that is housed inside the buttstock. It takes a few rounds to get used to the cycling action, but the reduction in felt-recoil is quite apparent.

could you compare it to a marlin 336 .30-30?

Can't answer that question, as I don't own anything remotely close to that.
Best I can say is that it feels like a shotgun with less of a kick.

I spent forever looking for a wood furniture "riot gun". Then I walked in to Gun Connection one day and there she was. This gun is why I believe the Wingmaster to be the finest of the pump action police guns. Of course if I ever convince my friend to sell me her Dad's old Ithica I might have to re-evaluate that.

I kick myself repeatedly for not scoring some of the SW riot guns that were at the local gun shows about 4 years ago for $50-75. Yes, they were beat and a non-standard gun, but damn there was something about them.

Well, I purchased the Knoxx Spec Opps stock last week. Installed easily, works great. I also bought a Mesa Tactical Sureshell carrier. Installation was a pain, product worked great, but had to remove it for normal cleaning. Now one of the screws is well... screwed (yeah pun intended), the top is stripping off making it difficult to uh... screw. (I'm great at technical terms ) I sent Mesa an email but I haven't heard back from them. I might run to a hardware store tomorrow to grab some replacement screws and some blue loctite. We'll see how it goes and I'll hopefully post some pics if I get that sorted out. :D
