Anybody recommend a stuck case removal setup for RCBS 30-06 die? Decapper/Expander and Case stuck with rim sheared off on the 3 sides. Was using Lee sizer lube. Not enough evidently.
Like the idea of the Forster to pull the decapping pin out then punch the case out directly afterwards. Looking for whatever works reliably?
Should have been prepared for this to eventually occur, especially since you can't hardly find anything you need anymore.

RCBS has a stuck case remover, You drill out the bottom of the case and tap threads in it and then it has a bolt and a spacer to remove the stuck case.

The RCBS stuck case remover I have never mentions drilling. Once you have one you will never use it again. Next time ensure adequate lube is used. Lesson learned.

    Go to the hardware store.

    1/4" tap with bit
    1/4" bolt
    Stack of washers

    Total cost under $10
Total time to remove case, less than five minutes ... the first time.

Well mine says in step 2, Place die in vice and drill# 7 hole through primer pocket.
You need to drill a hole before you can tap threads in the brass.

Well Skip, The remover you have is for competition and floating expander dies. I believe he has standard dies and yours will not work on standard dies.

i built my own with a peice of half inch black pipe and a washer. brazed the washer to the pipe on one end, drilled and tapped the case 1/4-20 and pulled it out with a 1/4-20 bolt.

learned my lesson and havent used it since.

get it all from lowes for 5 bucks maybe.

Ive never actually done this - but have heard of people, who'd stick the die with the stuck case in the freezer for awhile, and been able to pull a stuck case of a die.

Apparently the brass & steel expand/contract at different rates, and sometimes the case comes right out. I suppose you either put it back on the press, but if you stripped the case rim, maybe a pair of pliers to pull the case out might work.

I still use these 1975 223 dies. As you can see they are not competition but full length.

Well again skip, To use the case remover that you have will not work with the dies you have posted above. To use the remover that you have, You MUST remove the expander so you can drive the case out from the top of the die, (Comp dies )With a stuck case in a standard die you CAN NOT remove the expander because you can't get the expander past the case neck in the top of the die. That's why they make TWO different stuck case removers.
PS. You might want to get yourself the other remover so you have the correct one for the dies you have.

    I have the RCBS stuck case remover 'set-up'. I've used it. . . . once on a .30-'06 case.
    Learned my lesson.

A friend of mine was loading some .357 Herrett and didn't lube the case.
    It ripped the rim off.

My stuck case remover was at home. . . .we were at his house, in Kentucky.

Removed the die. Unscrewed and removed the decapper/expander ball.
Re-inserted the die from the inside of the press (Rockchucker).
Sprayed CLP around the case. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Clamped "Vise-Grip" Pliers to the remainder of the casehead.
Pulled. (Actually, we tapped the Vise-Grips with a hammer.)
    Brass came right out!

This sounds like a good idea -

    Go to the hardware store.

    1/4" tap with bit
    1/4" bolt
    Stack of washers

    Total cost under $10
Total time to remove case, less than five minutes ... the first time.

Got it out with 1/4-20 tap die and 1/4-20 bolt over a rachet socket with a stack of washers on top as recommended. After drilling out primer pocket. Back up and running.
    Thanks for the help.
