Why is it that I often get the address static.ak.facebook.com, or s-static.ak.facebook.com listed in the "recent pages" list of my browser, when I'm reading the forums here?

Those are static links to facebook items (usually pictures). That's the only time I've ever noticed those domains.
Case and point:
"sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net" in this case but those other magical names come up.

I ask because it's a PITA when there are too many of those non-links between actual pages and I use the back button on my mouse--I gotta click like 5 times to go back one page? What a hassle.
