Come join us for a Sporting Rifle Match this Saturday, April 15th, at Sanner's Lake in Lexington Park, MD. The match consists of 32 rounds plus sighters using SR-1 targets at 100 yards. Registration starts at 0800 and the match starts at 0900. You can use any center fire rifle weighing up to 9.5 pounds with a magazine capacity of at least 4 rounds. Detailed rules are in the attachment. This is a great introduction to high power competition if you’ve ever considered trying it! Reloads are “off the clock” and specialized shooting gear (heavy shooting coats, padded gloves, etc.) is not allowed. This is a fun match and you might see anything from M1 Garands (if they make weight), to AR’s in all kinds of calibers, carbines and old reliable bolt-action or lever-action deer rifles. Iron and optical sights are both allowed and there are separate awards for each category. This is an NRA-approved match so bring your NRA membership number if you want your score to count! We usually run two relays, so if you are new to high power shooting you can watch the first relay before giving it a go on the second. Most shooters don’t mind sticking around to provide coaching tips and/or equipment loans if you need them. Grab your sporting rifle and come on down to Sanners this Saturday and give it a try!
