I'm still planning on attending, though I probably need to exit early. Cub Scouts just scheduled an event for 2pm on Saturday, so I will need to leave by 11:30. I am adjusting my personal expectations accordingly. (and I had just gotten the clearance from the wife, too. Dang!)

I hope I'm not being a pest ... when do you prefer that people start showing up?

I will be up and about around 7:30AM. People usually show up around 9AM but if you are earlier that's okay.

Is anyone else building a AK63D underfolder without an underfolder receiver? My receiver doesn't have the folding stock holes so I'm looking for a template if anyone can point me in the direction. I've searched but can't find anything for the Hungarian.

go to theAKforum and ask they will lead u right

Here's a template for a Polish 74 underfolder. Hole placement is consistent with the demilled stub from my 63D kit. Calipers say the hole sizes are a little different. Unfortunately, I don't have a dimensioned drawing. I would be inclined to use the demilled stub as a template.

    Large hole:
    stub: 16.25mm dwg: 16.25mm

    Fore/aft mounting holes:
    stub: 6mm dwg: 7mm

Up/down slots on right side hole:
    stub: 3.25mm dwg: 4mm

Latest update to the spreadsheet is attached.

Thanks Steve. I didn't hear back from TC about the kiln, but I still have it on my list until he says no. I also have a bolt cutter style rivet tool, angle grinder, and miscellaneous clamps and hand tools that I will be bringing. Could bring a cross slide vise too if its needed.

I'll bring a couple packs of brats/sausages too.

    Looking forward to it.

You an bring the kiln but be forewarned that, unless you have jigs for the purpose of heat treating, the receiver will warp and twist. Even when using a jig, I believe that I have hear that Nodak Spud has a 20% lose of receivers in the heat treating process. Someone brought some receivers to the first build party that they had heat treated I a kiln and the receiver top rails were warped and out of spec. They had to be filed and modified in order for them to work.

I spent the evening cleaning up my garage an getting everything ready for Saturday.

I am unable to view that version of Excel on my computer. How many hydraulic presses will be there? We need at least 3 so people re not bottle-necked at the presses.

I've done four in it and they turned out great, no warp. Last one I built at the party was a full heat treat from this kiln. Problem is, it's a 2 hour cook time. If someone wants to try it, I'll bring it. If not, it'll save me from lugging it in and out of the truck.

Tc, I only see yours on the sheet. Awptickes has a question mark for his press, no others on the sheet.

What version on Excel do you have? I have reattached it above in 97-2003 mode.

I managed to shoe-horn my 20T press into the back of my Soob, along with a bench grinder, 1/2" drill press, 4 1/2" cutoff wheel, Dremel, and a bunch of hand tools. I'll bring my air hammer and the aircraft riveting tips ... haven't used it yet, but I have a couple hundred 3/16 rivets from McMaster to play with (sizes were pinched from the AKfiles forum regarding compatible parts.)

I'll bring a coffee pot, coffee, and some breakfasty stuff.

CRAP we were drilling out the long rivet in the back of the rear trunnion and the drill bit got off course and boogered the hole a bit. If anyone has a spare underfolder rear trunnion and you can bring it I'll buy it off of you. Otherwise I may have to make this one work which I hate the idea of

If you can get the bit and rivet out of the trunnion, it can be salvaged... But getting it out can be quite a challenge.
