How do you all feel about a possible Condi Rice as VP?

I would have to do more research on the subject as I really don't know much about her views on things before I would make a decision on this subject. If you are asking if I would vote specifically for a black woman, then yes I would vote for her if she held my views. I have no problem voting for a woman as long as she represents my views. Just like I wouldn't vote for anyone who doesn't.

I would like to see Huckabee as VP. I think he would be good for the Country. The US needs a little more religion in it. Maybe we wouldn't have so many problems if people in this Country actually believed in SOMETHING. I wont make this a religous post because it isn't. I think a religous President could be a very good one. Yes, seperation of church and state but that doesn't mean the President can't have a religion of their own either.

I agree that a LOT more Morality would be a good thing for the country....I'm just not sold on Huckabee....he was pretty soft on Crime as a Gov......pardoned almost as many bad people as Clinton did....

Regarding McCain, I think Anne Coulter put it best when she said that McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm and the youth. Nevertheless I'll still vote for him as the only fairly acceptable choice left. I think Romney will be his VP, stacked up against an Obama/Edwards ticket. I personally think Obama will get the dem nomination and lose badly to McCain. But what do I know. The media can't shut up about how everything Obama does is wonderful. They've even tried to spin the Rev. Wright debacle into a positive for him by telling us all what a great speech he gave.

Plus, I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but have you noticed the media seems to be putting up a lot more unflattering images of the Hildebeest that show her true age, wrinkles and all.

Two socialists and a democrat running as a republican... Why can't we get someone that's worth voting for, for a change?

I keep hoping McCain has to drop out due to health reasons or something, because there's only one other person in the race on the republican side... <evil grin!>

Personally, I'm going to write in Ron Paul.

You have a right to vote however you choose and I respect your desire to send a message by writing in RP...I feel the same way but have begrudgingly come to the conclusion that doing so will not help and only hurt by giving the Socialist Dem Gun Grabbers running for the Dems one less vote to oppose them.

tangent4ronpaul, I respect your decision to vote for Ron Paul but he has already lost as far as I am concerned and voting a write in is essentially throwing your vote away. Personally I don't think a write in or independat will ever win the Presidency. The Republicans and Democrats unfortunatly have WAY to much market share.

Gore/Obama Ticket? Time Magazine says its possible and being discussed.....

Gore/Obama Ticket? Time Magazine says its possible and being discussed.....maybe not likely but it IS being discussed....and this is not coming from Conservative Talk Radio either for those of you that may believe in a vast right wing conservative talk radio conspiracy......

Which brings us back to Al Gore. Pish-tosh, you say, and you're probably right. But let's play a little. Let's say the elders of the Democratic Party decide, when the primaries end, that neither Obama nor Clinton is viable. Let's also assume - and this may be a real stretch - that such elders are strong and smart enough to act. All they'd have to do would be to convince a significant fraction of their superdelegate friends, maybe fewer than 100, to announce that they were taking a pass on the first ballot at the Denver convention, which would deny the 2,025 votes necessary to Obama or Clinton. What if they then approached Gore and asked him to be the nominee, for the good of the party - and suggested that he take Obama as his running mate? Of course, Obama would have to be a party to the deal and bring his 1,900 or so delegates along.

I played out that scenario with about a dozen prominent Democrats recently, from various sectors of the party, including both Obama and Clinton partisans. Most said it was extremely unlikely ... and a pretty interesting idea. A prominent fund raiser told me, "Gore-Obama is the ticket a lot of people wanted in the first place." A congressional Democrat told me, "This could be our way out of a mess." Others suggested Gore was painfully aware of his limitations as a candidate. "I don't know that he'd be interested, even if you handed it to him," said a Gore friend. Chances are, no one will hand it to him. The Democratic Party would have to be monumentally desperate come June. And yet ... is this scenario any more preposterous than the one that gave John McCain the Republican nomination? Yes, it's silly season. But this has been an exceptionally "silly" year. View this article on Time.com

    Huckabee on gun control
Second Amendmen is about freedom, not about hunting
Q: You introduced yourself to New Hampshire voters this way, "Here's a guy who didn't just read the latest issue of NRA Magazine and decide he's going to be for the Second Amendment."
A: Voters want someone whose views on the Second Amendment understand that the basic issue is one of freedom and it's not hunting.

Source: Fox News Sunday: 2007 "Choosing the President" interviews Aug 26, 2007

Owns firearms; enjoys hunting; supports 2nd amendment
My position on the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution is as clear for me as the position held by most journalists toward the 1st Amendment. While I do not consider myself a "gun nut," I proudly own a variety of firearms and enjoy hunting as well as sports shooting. But even if I were not a hunter or did not enjoy shooting, I would still be a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment right of Americans to own firearms for self-protection and as a matter of principle.

hm... Alittle off topic but won't MD's electorals go to the candidate that gets the most votes this year?

I do not know if they got enough states to buy in to do it this year. If I remember the bill it required a certain number of states to be come part of this voting block. I dislike the entire idea due to they are basically trying to skirt the constitution by making it a national popular vote without an amendment to the constitution.

I have been hearing about a McCain/Bloomberg ticket from my friends in New York

I can't imagine McCain being that dumb. He needs to pick someone who can shore up his conservative creds a bit to win the South. A NY liberal isn't going to be much help.

Obama or Clinton will win MD by probably 15% so vote for whoever you want. I'm writing in Ron Paul myself.

That's exactly why I won't vote for McCain. When I voted for Bush in 2004 (my first presidential election), it had no effect on the election, since Kerry got 65% of the vote in MD. I specifically remember, however, that the President talked about his margin of victory being a mandate to continue his policies. If McCain wins this time, I won't be contributing to his "mandate."

But he could pick up the NYC fundraising machine and get a bunch of crossover Dem votes

To what end? Solely to get a Republican win even though both McCain and Bloomberg are anathema to the core principles of the Republican Party and conservatism? No thanks....

Bloomberg is the poster child for gun control in this country and I won't vote for anyone that includes him as a running mate.

And if anything happens to McCain, and Bloomberg sits in the oval office with Pelosi controlling the house, we might actually see lots of guns pried out of cold dead hands.:sad20:

I will write in Mickey Mouse before I vote for Bloomberg on ANY ticket.

Very true, whomever McCain picks they could be the next president in two years.

While if the dem nominee picks either Richardson, Webb or Warner, it would mean little in comparison because it is doubtful Obama will die, resign or not run for reelection in four years.

If McCain were going to "cross the aisle" for his Veep then his obvious choice would be Joe Lieberman. Both are the "mavericks" of their respective parties, there is no love loss between Joe and the Dean DNC and Lieberman's pro-Israel and anti-terrorist(muslim) stance would scare the Shiite out of the pro-Arabs backing Obama.
