He didn't bash the platform, he bashed the high optic and high price. Both of which I agree with, judging by the pic anyways. Although I think the M14/M1A is an excellent platform. I'm a huge fan of its older brother, the M1

I hate the platform. There are much better options in same price range. ergos suck, the gas system is suspect like all m1a's, and its unweildy. You could get a bushmaster ORC .308+acog for the price or a DSA FAL decked out. There was a reason it was in service for less than 10 years outside of modern dmr which is still sucks as condsidering modern alternitives.

I had a guy sit 2 tables over from me at the range with one of those the other day. I was shooting my 50 BMG... he shot the first mag through it and it was so loud with that short barrel and comp that I got up and moved...

You don't need all that rail crap by the muzzle-end. Too much weight.

Plus if you really want to get performance out of a 7.62 then go with the larger barrel of the standard-size M14 (or whatever Springfield calls it nowdays.

That would be the M1A. Either Loaded, National Match, Super Match, or White Feather.

I'm going to go with the Socom 16,then set it up on Sage EBR chassis with cheekweld to elimate the wgt.factor and Andy from Engage says it can be fitted with the AAC7.62SDN-6 can with a 51T flash hider in 595x32tpi
