Sig P229 mag question

So I recently bought a Sig Sauer P229 Nitron 9mm. And it came with two ten round magazines.

So I wanted to get some of the 15 round magazines and everything I have read lead me to believe I needed the new 229-1 mags. Well I got some and they don't fit. I have one of the older Mecgar 15 round mags and it fits.

So I'm a little confused.

I thought all the new P229s, made after 2010 had the wider frame and needed the new type of magazine. The grips look like the E2 grips. The pistol case has a date of 06/2012 on it.

Can anyone enlighten me on what I'm missing?

If your 229-1 magazines DO NOT FIT I'd be willing to take them.

Cant find them anywhere.

I to was under the impression that everything made recently had the larger frame and required 229-1's.

Are the 229-1's Sig or Mec's?

Are they not locking up or do they just not fit in the mag well?

Do you plan on sending the mags back or might you sell the 229-1's?

They don't fit in the mag well. Make it maybe a third of the way in.

If you are interested in buying them, I'm probably interested in selling them.
