Just received something early for Father’s Day Mossberg M590A1 Talo "US Service Edition" 12 Gauge Model #50676. The Black Guns Matter Parkerized 9 round Tactical version with the all-important Bayonet lug and bonus Tactical Scabbard. Got it below retail no shipping well under 5 bills. I can now check that off my “Someday I want list”. What’s next ? A 1911 or AR. I really want to build a custom AR but that may have to wait on my Space Coast relocation!

Very nice 590A1! One of those is on my to-buy list. This one wasn't on the list, but was too awesome to pass up. Winchester 1300 Defender:

80s vintage, 18.5", 7+1. I only planned to put about 15 target loads, a few slugs, and a couple of buckshot rounds through it. Ended up coming back home with no ammo :P

My only other pump is a Mossberg 500 and I like how the 1300 uses a slide/action release in a similar location. The safety on the Winchester is in the same spot as on a Remington. I prefer the location that Mossberg uses but I don't typically use the safety on a shotgun though so that's not a big deal. The Winchester's tube can also be loaded with the action open or closed, which is kind of interesting. The Mossberg tube can only be loaded with the action closed.

Check budsgunshop they have deals from time to time on the M590, which comes in a dozen different styles, this one was the M590A1 TALO Model #50676 come Parkerized and the Tactical Scarbard, you have pickup the Bayonet yourself.

Walked into Gun Connection to look at stripped lowers today and ended up leaving with this:
Mossberg 590 18.5" with tube extension. Holds 6+1.

Should I get a 500 or 590A1 also what kind of price ranges should I be looking at?
Mine is a 590 (not A1) and was cheaper I'm sure than an A1 at $409. Not much difference construction wise between a 500 and a 590. An 18.5" 590 like mine will take extensions, mine came with a +1, a 500 will not.

Couple differences you might check into the 590 has a trigger assembly with a plastic trigger guard, aluminum on the 590A1, the 590 has a plastic safety button, aluminum on the 590A1.

The 590A1 was built to MilSpec 3443E, Parkerized or Marinecote finish. I like the Parkarized finish built like a tank. You can upgrade any of the 500 models with the polymer trigger guard to metal for $80.00+ as well as the safety, not sure about safety upgrade cost.

The model I picked was the U.S Service Model #50676 20” 9 round.. You can get one under 5 bill’s .

I look at it as you get what you pay for. I will never shot 3000 rounds in my life time but I will pass these firearm to son are well as his grandfathers Colt 1917 when I’m gone

I already have some utilitarian pump shotguns, so I decided to get the Hyundai Genesis of shotguns. The TriStar Viper G2, silver edition for busting clays eventually. Fit and finish is amazing. Very nice shotgun for the money. Only one spot on the barrel has a blemish, but not a deal killer for me.

Recent acquisition, an older 870 Wingmaster. I believe this is a 1984 produced gun, at least as far as the code on the barrel is concerned.
Debating on adding a +2 extension or leaving it as it is. I do really like how light and easy it points, at least compared to my 930 SPX and 1887.

IMO - Absolutely leave it as is. Wingmasters aren't for tactical purposes, they are for use in the field - no need for a 2+.

I love my Wingmaster. It belonged to my father who bought it in the 70s.

The blue on those old pumps are beautiful.

Agree there is never a good reason to change a “Classic” that why it is a “Classic” you can’t do anything to make Better but enjoy it in all its Glory .

BTW love the wood, Nothing looks better then a well shaped Brunette then a well shaped Brunette thats all oiled up .

Speaking of shell extensions, I just got my new Choate 4.25" tube extension. This brings the mag tube flush with the end of the barrell. My 18.5" 590 is now 7+1.
