I was wondering what some of my fellow shooters think. I am sure most of us carry a knife. I have been carrying one since as long as I can recall. The clip knives like spyderco, gerber, and Kershaw became rather valueable with ranching and rodeo when I was in college.

I was wondering if anyone here has a preference. Personally I used to carry a serrated edge gerber ez-out. Now I carry a kershaw compound straight edge spring assist.

Serrated serves a purpose but I dont carry one for a EDC I prefer a plain edge . I do keep a serrated in my truck and one in my pack when hiking or camping .

Combo edge. Have your cake and eat it too.
I have a question, why do people who dislike serrations dislike them?
    Hard to sharpen?

I carry a fully serrated Syderco Rescue. During my USCG years, only a fool carried anything other than serrated while working on deck. In the USCG, they tore through lines and life jackets if needed. As a cop they tear through seat belts and the straps in body armor. If I need precision, I use scissors. If I need to tear through something a hurry a serrated edge will get it done.

My EDC is a razor knife, or Benchmade (3/4 straight 1/4 serrated).

A 100% serrated, carried as a back up leaves a real nasty wound that can be difficult to repair.

I carry a plain edge locking one-handed folder clipped to my right front pocket.

On my keychain, I have a Gerber plier-based multitool that contains plain-edge and a sheepfooted serrated blade. The serrated blade is great for cutting seatbelts, zipties, and wristbands.

Used to like the serrations but I its annoying to sharpen, same reason I don't like tanto point knives. I like to keep a pretty good edge on my blades and I've never had any trouble cutting anything for everyday use but I understand why people like the serrations. I also like clean cuts on things, just another person preference.
