    Alright,
So after dipping my toe in the NFA "water" with two SBRs I've decided that I need to get a rimfire can. I want this one to be able to do "double duty" on pistols and rifles as equally well as possible. I don't want to spend a fortune so "boutique" with fancy finishes need not apply.

    So, I'm looking at....

    Rex Silentium MG22
    Thunder Beast Takedown
    Dead Air Mask
    Rugged Occulus
    Hansohn Bros vidar
    Nyx

    Any recommendations? Thoughts?

Decide if you want to go for light weight (i.e. all aluminum) or something that is easier to clean and will work with rimfire magnum calibers, but is twice the weight. I went the all aluminum route because light weight works well for a pistol and rifle. I am probably in the minority though.

Dead Air Mask. No first round pop, very quiet, easy to clean and company has good customer service.

HAHA, I totally misunderstood the thread by the title.

Then as I read the replies, I think I understood.
Here I saw mention of Cans, SBR's etc. and had to laugh, 2 of my handguns are ported and one of my Bolt action rifles has a Muzzle Break on it. Pretty sure I am shooting 180 degrees contrary to this thread.

Stainless and titanium are easier to clean and usually rated for magnum caliber and full auto.

    Aluminum is lighter and cheaper.

Monocore usually has more first round pop.

Personally I like baffle stacks instead of monocore. And like easier to clean. Others may disagree with that.My Mask and Spectre ii(no longer made) have been great.

This is a lifetime purchase. Buy from a reputable manufacturer with a good warrantee and avoid anything that seems gimmicky

Bought my first .22 can in 2006. AAC Pilot. Sealed aluminum. Back then it was this or a gemtech outback. Great can. Super light, but not user serviceable. Just had it recored by ECCO machine with stainless baffles. Basically a Dead air mask now. Quiet and able to be cleaned.

The Rex has a wipe. No way that I would buy it.
    Absolutely this.

Check out the Rugged Mustang. Street price under $400. Feather lightweight, titanium and aluminum. Lifetime unconditional warranty.

Silencerco Sparrow isn't on the list for some reason....
From what I understand, in the 10+ years since they've been introduced there are better cans out there now.

Re: the Rex, from what I've seen on reviews, most elect to not use the wipe in the first place and it still does a good job. That being said, front runners seem to be...
