A guitar teacher taught me that filing nails makes them stronger than trimming/cutting/bitting. Just sayin'...

this must be true, my mother always told me that same thing and she is quite the guitar player. She always files her nails, never cuts them.

Try doing some car repairs. Nothing like black gunk under your nails to keep from biting them. If you do, you'll be reminded real quick.

I used to chew my nails. When I was a kid my mother used some crap on my nails the doctor recomended. It was actually for use on dogs so they would not lick their wounds.
I bit my nails until after I got my divorce (1999). When I started dating again, I told myself that no woman is going to want a guy that chews his nails. I quit the next day. That was about eight years ago.
Now I can't get my wife of five years to stop!
