No different than what we've learned (confirmed) this week about "AbominalCare", and how it was rammed through. If people really knew, it wouldn't have passed.

Thankfully, some future former legislators (and the current Administration) herer have paid a price for that sort of bad faith behavior. Much like your Senator should.

But we must soldier on, and keep up the pressure, because we are having an effect.

Agreed, but have you seen the list of MD Sherriffs that showed up in Annapolis and spoke out against it before it was passed? It is most of the Sherrifs in the State! Except Bateman, our good pro gun control Sherriff in AA County. Can anyone tell me how that happened? I think I saw that Delimater took like 40% of the vote, nobody even knows who he is. Had he actually campaigned he could of won.

I think the Sherriffs from AA, PG, Balt CO and MOCO sat it out, I think all others participated. Almost anyway. And they were IGNORED.

We just DO NOT have the votes in either house of the General Assembly.

There was not enough campaign to remove the offending Delegates or Senators; Sheriffs and the MD Governor DO NOT write or remove laws in MD

SB281 was only ever about appearances. If you go read the FBI's "Violent Encounters" publication from 2006, the study (at page 50: Weapon Acquisition) indicates that the majority of guns were obtained illegally. Only 1 of the 33 handguns had been purchased legally, and that one was many years before the incident.

Unfortunately, it seems like the real facts never matter much to most politicians anymore.

The facts don't matter to politicians, because they don't matter to voters, who are content to remain ignorant and vote for what sounds good. Intentions matter to these people. They suffer from ADHD when it comes to connecting the dots between well intentioned liberal legislation and the inevitable negative outcomes.

Unfortunately, you are spot on about the voters. When it comes to law or policy it does seem that they vote for what sounds good, instead of really understanding what is happening. Maybe that Gruber guy wasn't too wrong after all

And as unfortunate, many voters seem to only vote for candidates along party lines. There are examples where this isn't the case, but not as many as maybe there should be.
