I'd like to get a bit of input since when it comes to rails I feel like I've been stuck in 2010 and have been in if it anit broke don't fix it mindset. My go to for everything is midwest g2 or combat slims.
Here's my current project. Rifle length gas, 20" fulton armory 308 ar barrel. Will mount a bipod, but don't plan to mount a pec for at least a very very long time if at all. It will be a range, field, overwatch rifle but it also is PLENTY front heavy.

So do I stay with the tried and true for me midwest at the tune of 180ish or use something else? If something else why?

I really like the thin and light Midwest hand guards . I’m waiting on one to come in tomorrow for a 6.5 I’m putting together. I’ve had many other brands and Sampson is also good.

This. The MI lightweights are really nice and light.

The cheap Matrix ones sold on Joe Bob Outfitters are shockingly high quality for their price point. Slim and light, sounds like you don't need more weight anyways.
