Ladies and gentleman, I have been working at Engage Armament for a while now, since August of 2010. I've been focused on getting into the groove of gunsmithing work, gaining experience and generally taking it all in. Things have slowed down a little for the summer and now I find myself with more idle time, and have decided it's time to start becoming involved on MDShooters again. I wanted to take a hiatus from the site in order to put some distance from my personal posts here over the past several years before posting professionally. I believe it's important to keep a buffer of some kind between personal beliefs and what I do for Engage Armament, and for my customers - especially MDShooters members.
So with that aside, I am happy to be back in the active MDShooters community! This account was established solely to be the portal for MDShooters members to contact me in regards to gunsmith work. As a young gunsmith who still has a lot to learn, I am not seeking to be an encyclopedia of knowledge, ready to share pearls of wisdom with everyone. I do not feel as if I have the authority or experience to go around correcting people talking about their knowledge of guns and their use, repair, cleaning, etc. As I'm sure you all know, there is a lot of good information already on this forum, and many knowledgable people post quite frequently about popular subjects. I will pop in when time allows to throw in my $.02, and get involved in discussions that pertain to my passion of working with guns and with the members of MDShooters.
I realize there are not a lot of gunsmiths in the area, and I know it's important to develop a solid relationship with the members of the forum that fostered my interest in guns and gunsmithing. It was through this forum that I was able to learn enough about firearms to come to the realization that there was a need for another 'smith in the world. No matter what job I held for as long as I could remember, I always found myself spending nearly all of my spare time reading about guns, buying them and shooting them when I had the time and money for it. So, as many of you know, I attended the Master Gunsmithing program at the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School in Pittsburgh. To be honest, I never thought I'd be right back where I started, here in Montgomery County.
So while I'm here, I'm at your service and I hope to be the best gunsmith for you trust with your treasured weapons. I don't work on every type of gun, I don't have the tools and/or equipment to do all I've been trained to do and want to try (yet), but I will do everything I can to provide quality and timely service. Here at Engage Armament, we're expanding capabilities to meet the demands of our client base. We hope to have our machine shop running as soon as possible. It's been a long time in the making, and we want to make sure everything is set up level and true. We purchase new tools as budgeting allows to expand upon the library of weapons I can work on. I spend time at home reading shop manuals, books on ballistics and gunsmith work in order to expand my knowledge. For me, the field of "weaponology" is so vast I believe I'll be learning until I die, and I'll always be expanding my horizons and trying new things.
I will conclude this "re-introduction" with a pledge to everyone, regardless if they read this or not: I will do my best within my abilities on every job I take in. If there's something I can't do or am unsure of, I will turn it away and refer you to someone with more experience or a specialist who can fulfill your needs. I'm not here to be hot-headed and cocky, I'm still here to learn and grow my business. In the event you are dissatisfied with my work or comments here, please let me know. If I'm wrong or screw something up, I'd much rather have a chance to fix it or correct me than to have someone unhappy or believing that I'm unprofessional or incompetent. Although I try hard to do everything right all the time, I am human and will make mistakes from time to time. If I mount your scope and it's not quite straight to your eye, call, shoot an e-mail or stop by and I'll make it right. In this industry nothing is more important than a gunsmith's reputation, and I will always strive to keep my reputation and the reputation of Engage Armament nothing but stellar.
With that, I will close this post. I'm glad to be back on here and hope the conversation is good, and our personal and business relationships healthy!
P.S. - since the PM box has a tendency to fill up quickly, I'd like to announce my preferred method of contact, which will allow me to reply faster and save every message sent and received. You can reach me at any time at gunsmith@engagearmament.com
