There's 3 modified Garands in thAt auction. All 3 say they are modified for match shooting. That hra and another SA are 308. Looks like the third one is a SA that's still 30.06, but has a glass bedded barrel and action along with a custom trigger. They actually call the stock on the one in the op "patriotic".

I like it. For competition a laminated stock is better then a solid wood one. Its just a stock so why not have some fun w/ it vs a boring brown laminate that blends in w/ everyone elses. IIRC Anschutz, Kimber, Ruger, NRA, etc have all had competition guns (or guns w/ that help sponsor a USA team) with similar red/white/blue laminate. I suspect its not all that out of place at somewhere like camp perry.

ummm...it's a match rifle. Lotsa guys who build and shoot supermatch garands use laminate stocks for stability.

Its a laminate stock on a match rifle. Def not my taste but laminates are not uncommon on match rifles.
