I am thinking about maybe building my own .22 suppressor. I have several Griffin, Rugged and Dead Air suppressors but don't want to wait almost a year to get another .22 suppressor.

My question is, does anyone have a suppressor kit that they recommend? I have access to a lathe to drill them out or do some turning. If the endcaps and tube have to be threaded, that would probably be a non starter as the lathe is an old gear type and I don't have all the parts for it anymore.

    TIA

I haven’t run into it but I believe there’s a thread that people had run into problems with solvent traps. Maybe it’s the 80% thread but they were saying that those kits were along the lines of the 80% frames and would be turned down. One guy said along with his app he sent pictures of raw materials and his lathe.

Let us know. I’m probably going to do the same thing very soon.

Even if you build you own you are still going to have to wait for the tax stamp and jump through some other hoops as well. Pretty sure you can't just build one and start using it without some sort of government interference.

Im fully behind you. I'd love to eventually build one myself.
I've seen kits that have tube and endcaps already threaded for your convenience. I haven't looked at them in a long time so I don't remember what sites. Should be easy to find.

Wow really? I never knew that...

    fml... some people...

I'm pretty sure OP knows that. eForm1 approvals are around 30 days, compared to my last eForm4 which took 265 days.

I had a Form 1 suppressor approved last month. I think the trick now is to source parts from multiple vendors- and name them. Using the phrase "Turn on a lathe" doesn't hurt.
It is my understanding they are shooting down Form 1's that are simply buying solvent traps, paying $200 and drilling a few holes.

No advice besides, the cheap aluminum DIY stuff is effective. A friend of mine built one and Form 1'd it before ATF started cracking down on all the chinesium stuff flowing over here. His came with threaded end caps, tube, and baffles that just needed to be drilled. I think he paid like $40 for it. After he received his approved Form1, he drilled it out with a $100 drill press from harbor freight. Pretty sure he returned the drill when he was done.

Shooting CCI SV's through it, it's basically as quite as my $400 CGS Hydra. Would I use it on my 5.7 or .22WMR? No, but for .22LR it works pretty awesome.
