My question is when you get to a safe state to carry, what is your procedure for retrieving the firearm from transport locations and holstering in public. My Utah permit just came back and would love to hear from others on how they do it. Best to retrieve the firearm and get back in the vehicle to load and holster it?

I have a crew cab truck with a locking storage under the rear seat that I am planning to use to lock my firearm and mags up in during transport as I do not have a trunk to put them in.

Would love to hear others procedures they follow in this situation.

    Thanks guys!

When leaving state, I normally wear the holster, stop at roadside location, and go to trunk, load pistol, slip into holster. It can be done very discreetly.

Returning to MD< same drill, except I normally remove holster also.

Could go either way , depending on vehicle , weather

If desired , lea, into open door to load below window level , then feet on ground , hip leaning into open door , slide into holster, still reasonably discreet. Bad weather , do inside , but sometimes more gymnastics to holster , depending on holster , car seat , body shape.

Reach behind my seat, grab locked bag, unlock the freedom. Small smile appears.

VA gas is normally cheaper so lock up/fill up at one of the last stations before MD.
The only people paying much attention are the ones doing the same thing.

Thanks so much for for the insight.

Pinecone I was also planning on wearing the holster as its tougher to get the crossbreed supertuck on without having to undo your pants.

Ironpony that is too funny!! I will be carrying mostly in Delaware and fuel is cheaper there also.
