I wonder how many training videos are going to have this in to prove a point?

After watching the video several times, I think that he was removing the gun from his IWB holster and was then attempting to put the gun into his coat pocket. He couldn't get the gun into the pocket. He must have bumped the trigger while holding the gun in that awkward grip. You can actually see the round hit the right side of the elevator door and come back at him.
From reading several sources about this event, I've come to believe this.
He removed his pistol from his waist carry holster and was trying to put in his coat pocket. Why? He was in a known high-crime area parking lot and wanted to walk to his car with his hand on the gun while it was still concealed in his coat pocket so he could he could deploy it more quickly if required. He had difficulty getting the pistol into his coat pocket and inadvertently pulled the trigger while struggling to get the gun into the coat pocket.
Did anyone else notice that the box he was carrying was full of donuts? He is going to gain some choice nicknames from his cop buddies.
Be safe. Ridicule for a Negligent Discharge is forever, especially if it's on video and on the Internet.
Just looks like complacency. Continues to chat, pulls out gun perhaps for adjustment, struggles with long coat but doesn't worry about it AND has finger on trigger. Too comfortable with gun.....
I'm glad everyone survived. I'm sure that he's embarrassed beyond belief.

He needs a lateral transfer:
