Ok I am really liking this one upper from BCM but its in the 14.5" barrel configuration. I have no probem getting the flash hider pinned as I am not one to tinker once I get what I want.....but never say never. IF I were to want and tinker is it doable by skilled gunsmith to cut off the flash hider and not screw up the barrel/threads?? Add new additions and have new flash hider/break then re pinned.

Or is it truely a permanent instal??

It can be removed, with some amount of damage to the flash hider.

Then you can install a different one, or even the same one again.

Typ just have to drill or grind out the weld. Will damage flash hider to some extent based on method. Barrel should be fine.

What does a gunsmith typically charge to pin a flash hider?

It varies depending on the Smith. The type of Muzzle Device will change the price too. Suppressor Mounts are harder to do because it can effect the function of not done correctly.

My pin jobs start at $75.

Figure $100.00 maybe less to pin and weld the flash hider, if you shop and get lucky. It depends on the current backlog. I don't understand why you want to "pin a gas block". Even though some gas block front sights are pinned; you pin the flash hider because it takes a 14' barrel to 16" legal. i.e. not a SBR.

Pinning a gas block is more secure
