    It could be worse.

Your wife could be a shooter.

Then it would not be that you don't need another gun.

It would be that it is NOT YOUR TURN. :)

BT, DT, missed out on a sweet Browning O/U .410.

She's a shooter. But she's not into long guns. And she's perfectly happy with the two (handguns) that she has. (And doesn't understand why I want more.)

The only place I have to wait my turn is at the range.

You see... Here's the thing. (You young/single guys, listen up)

It's one thing to buy something expensive behind your wife's back. It's another to out right LIE to her. The former is much easier to get past.

Marriage is sometimes like a game "creativity". And "Technicalities" are often a gray area to be exploited.

If I buy it and tell her later, I already have it. So she may cop an attitude. But she'll get over it. (Especially if I play the "I NEVER buy anything for myself" card!)

OTOH, if I LIE, it becomes a "trust" issue. A good marriage is built on trust. Once that's compromised, it's often tough to repair.

So don't lie, just don't "offer information".

Here's what I do. I take him out to the driveway and count the cars he has. Then we don't have to talk about what I buy. :D

    Update:

I "brought it up in conversation" tonight, then quickly changed the subject.

So now she officially has been told about it!

I'm going to have to pull the shelves out of the right side of my gun safe to utilize the "racks", the next time I buy a long gun. The left side is full.

I can already hear the "WTH?!" coming out of her mouth.

I'll cross THAT bridge when I come to it.

Same thing, wife out of town, I now have an AK 74 inbound.

A separate bank account with electronic statements helps....

Of course how you fund it would then be the trick.

Not one of my guns was purchased with the Visa. Helps to be close to PA to pick up so you don't have to ship to the house.

But my wife foolin' days are over. The safe is FULL. Maybe I did that to put a cap on my spending.
