One statement I distinctly recall Delegate Dwyer saying at the MSI Meeting

Was: "no matter how many statistics and facts you recite, their minds are already made up and you won't be changing them with figures and statistics".

"Remember, they have made this their agenda"

He then followed this up with: "You guys better be mad as hell about what they are trying to do to you. What they are doing is illegal, trying to steal your civil rights.

    Just FYI...

Anyone else remember this or anything else beneficial?

So instead of giving them our nice logic based testimony, we should just be pissed off and emotional? Isn't this the opposite of what we've been told the last couple weeks?

I think he followed up with we need as many people in Annapolis on the 6th as we can get. He said something to the fact that numbers are the only thing that will make an impact on the politicians.

I am just telling you what I remember him saying. He said "their eyes will glass over or they will probably start checking their emails".

"They have heard it all before..."

You can put out your facts and figures but follow it up with a personal story and be Dam Well adament about what points you are making. Quoting history and reminding them who they work for and why and how it can be taken away.

I also recall him saying Valario doesnt like people reading from paper.

I agree with all of that.

As for Vallario, I had notes I'd scratched out for my testimony last year, but I kept eye contact with him as much as possible, until he started watching the timer, instead.

For this round, though, we're dealing with Baron von Frosh, and I've never experienced him.

Don't under estimate Frosh. Frosh is a skilled litigator.

Exactly we are not dealing with Valario this time. We are dealing with Frosh who is the smuggest POS you will ever meet. Frosh is as Greg said a skilled lawyer and given half a chance will discredit and make fools of anyone he can. As Norton stated in another thread be prepared to say you don't know something or due to time limitations and discouraging reading from a script you do not have exact footnoted and referenced sources in front of you so everything is to your best recollection if challenged.

No, he meant be mad enough to actually go and give testimony vs complacency - not to be mad DURING testimony

Another thing he said was that they are running scared on this ... Frosh took over the Judiciary Committee and threw Dwyer off in hopes of steamrolling the committee and putting 281 on the floor without resistance ... but even with Dwyer gone and other behind the scenes chicanery, Frosh was still not certain of getting 281 out of committee and onto the senate floor ... so Wednesday is not a regular Judiciary Committee meeting, its some kind of super committee meeting that Frosh conjured up to bypass the normal MD Senate rules and procedures ... Dwyer is saying they are that ruthless in trying to subvert the rules and take our civil rights - Then Frosh changed the date from the 8th to the 6th when Frosh KNEW Obama would be in town and it might make things difficult

How would Senator Frosh throw Delegate Dwyer off of a committee?

Plus, Frosh has been chair of that committee for a decade.

Now that's an interesting take. Honestly, that wasn't quite how I took it, I suppose you could be correct though. I just dont know how much of an impact statistics from a civil, calm debate would have on our dear friend F, verses a room full of people who honestly feel like their right to principles is flat out being stolen from them by a bunch of common street thieves. I guess principles mean nothing to them though. F looks like a patsy, he may be skilled, but if he doesn't get his way, I wonder if Omouthy will squash him.

I believe perhaps the more sedate way of putting the way I took it would be to say, (to be "nice" about it, being civil with thieves) "Make sure your point gets driven home very well."

I guess I am just used to fighting on a much dirtier level.

Emotion is the basis for wanting to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazine clips.....

I posed that to Del Dwyer at the meeting ...

Ask your legislator "Do you make laws based on emotion, or facts, logic, and Contitutional law ?"

His response was ... "What do you think their response will be ?"

I know what Del. Dwyer and a few others responses would be, but most of our elected representatives in the PRofMD use people's emotions as a way to manipulate them. The sad part is, the sheeple fall for it every time.

I'll get criticized for saying it, but as a legislator, you need to be a little more Spock and a little less Capt. Kirk. I know that that may not engender many votes from the chronically butt-hurt or those who feel instead of think, but we have got to get away from politics that give people a thrill up their leg, which is what keeps many of the current crowd in office.

I have always said that none of our glorious leaders will be swayed at all by any of the testimonies. They will simply endure it until the day is over. They have their agenda, both their own and the one being handed to them by the imposter in chief. One of the things that we will get with sheer numbers on 2/6 is camaraderie and a sense that we are not alone as MD gunowners. Should it come down to a fight, knowing that others will be there with you will make a big difference. Whatever happens with the testimony, whatever happens with the sheer number of people, I fully expect to have some sort of unconstitutional ban of firearms passed. BTW: I will be there.

I think the point Del Dwyer was trying to make is pick something and personalize it. Make them know that they are personally violating you and are genuine threats to you and your family. I also recall something in the MSI slides that points out how politicians are clearly siding with criminals over the peacable citizenry.

My interpretation of Delegate Dwyer's comments on Saturday was that testimony should be emotionally charged rather than based on facts and logic. The other side trots out human shields, sheds crocodile tears, and shrieking cries of "Please think of the children!!" to push their agenda. Our testimony should tug at the heart strings just the same, only towards our desired direction.

Fight fire with fire. That sort of thing.

I agree, they are working from an emotional center. We need to work from an emotional center too. I think we need to say how this is going to affect us and cause harm to the root of our being and to mortally wound us and our nation.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that this legislation IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE based on facts, number of children killed or popular public sentiment AT ALL.

The BIG picture is the FACT that it is based on a PURE, LIBERAL, POLITICAL AGENDA.

I wonder how we can fit that into our testimony in a non threatening way that will remain in their minds as a veiled threat that will stick with them for quite a while. It should be your closing line, assuming they are still awake.

I rather enjoy watching rats squirm.

This is why the real fight is for public opinion..

One on one discussions with those who have been misinformed.

Its slow but its the only way. We can't be reactive any longer -- by that I mean those who are new to the fight such as myself ...
