Ok to own a wolf but not a coyote. Go figure. My late wife and I used to breed high percentage hybrid timber wolves in MD. MD-NR had no issue with that. One of our males was 97% MacKenzie Valley Timber Wolf (Canada). The 3% was Alaskan Malamute.
Coyotes are shoot to kill here in WV.
It's not worth all the "Acme" package cardboard and exploded firework debris left all over the lawn, though. Plus the constant smell of burnt coyote hair.
We have wild coyotes down here just south of Prince Frederick. Neighbor has caught them on a game camera he has mounted on a tree in his back yard. I have noticed that there are a lot less stray cats in the neighborhood this year.
Might be what my GSD has been eye-balling in the woods behind my house lately and I haven't seen any squirrels or rabbits around this year.
I got to be careful they might think I am keeping it as a pet.
