I need some help and couldn't find the answer anywhere.

I am not a designated collector. I recently had my grandfathers pistol officially transferred to me. I am planning to by a rifle. Do I have to wait the 30 days? I figure NO since the rifle is non regulated. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

    You are correct.

A non-banned rifle (the term "regulated" is more one of art now, since FSA13) is OK.

FTMP, only handguns fall in the 30-day ruls (with HQL of course).

There are some fine-point differences for specific circumstances, but in general, you're GTG.

Why not become a designated collector? It's free, it gets you out of the one gun a month regulations, and it allows you to transport all or part of your collection for the purposes of display, all good things.

Most things I can see a downside to, but, honestly, I can't see anything negative at all about becoming a designated collector.

Not really. Law on transport says "bona fide" collector. DC is only "designated" collector.

If you are a DC with only one firearm, are you REALLY a collector?

It may help, but it may not.

Every collection has to start somewhere.:innocent0
