If I remember correctly when the NICS first came about, most people at gun shows were being delayed. After thinking more about it, we determined it was just the enormous amount of checks taken place on the weekends (of course, the same time as gun show) and the Feds were not prepared for the onslaught. I'm wondering if this isn't the case at this time. I'm hearing of so many 1st time firearm purchases taking place all around the country. My son In Houston tells me that his favorite shop is busy ever time he walks in. My family in WV is saying the same thing. Even a friend in Wyoming is talking about the number of firearms being purchased.
I think if you ask folks like Lou and any FFL that was around when the NICS came to be, there were issues then and I think it's the same now. Too many firearm purchases and not enough employees to do their jobs correctly.
