While not a Maryland issue per se, a lot of us carry in Virginia on a regular basis. Including, sometimes, into (gasp!) a restaurant. Virginia State senator Saddam Salim (Fairfax) has introduced a bill making it a class 2 misdemeanor to carry - whether you have a sip or not - into any establishment with a license to sell alcohol for on-premise consumption. I wonder if all of those more rural Virginians who never turn out to vote will even be aware this would make it illegal to carry in, say, Mission BBQ (and a jillion other places).

It should be any easy win in court using the sb1 case as an example. I say should be, but we know how the courts work.

They don't. It's clear they don't. The :"circuit" courts need to be abolished or their rulings and opinions need to cover the entire country. How is it possible that a judge in one circuit slaps an injunction on a "law" because they find it unconstitutional but his injunction only covers citizens in those states? If we are ALL equal under the law that injunction should cover ALL of us.

Title is misleading, this will affect far more than bars, as the OP in this thread pointed out.

Almost every non fast-food restaurant serves alcohol.

It is a constant harassment on freedom and rights which the leftist tell us they want to protect.

The Constitution is so important to them.

For those that do not remember, when VA originally provided for concealed carry, any establishment that served alcohol was off limits.. Then they changed it to open carry in any establishment that served alcohol. Then to complete conceal it if you want to.

Looks like they want to go straight back to square on.

Me thinks if this even comes up for debate that Saddam won't have any stats to back up his assertion that this is a major issue in VA.

Business should be allowed to make their own rules on what their customers are allowed to do (smoke, carry, wear shirt, shoes, etc)

Sure and then there is being asked to leave/regular trespassing laws for that

The whole alcohol shtick is weird, it’s funny to keep seeing this copy/paste show up everywhere.

I know several peeps who sit in bars weekly to hangout with their friends, and don’t drink alcohol regardless.

It has nothing to do with alcohol. If they though they could say its banned everywhere someone breaths air they would. Its just they know so many places can serve alcohol if just covers so many public places. It is also "easy" to sell to the rest of the public, due to just saying people who drink tend to do bad things. It appeals to the "feels" good that a lot of people have ( not gun owners ).

The copy/paste languahe is because big Anti groups like Everytown provide paid-for attorneys to draft bills for susceptible, low-intellect legislators. We saw this plain and clear last year during the MGA SJPC SB1 hearing last year when the bill's sponsor, Sen Waldo, had to hand off any substantive question about the bill's language to the Everytown lawyer for explanation. That clown didn't know what was in the bill he "authored" and sponsored.
