I think if this gun were nickel-plated instead of gold it would look significantly better, the gold just makes it look too much like bling. I'm not a big fan of engraving an entire gun either, but there are some cases where it is tastefully done.

For modern semi-autos and revolvers a little engraving can look good, especially against a nickel/chrome finish but if you're going to engrave a whole gun leave it to a single-action revolver or a 1911, other than that I haven't seen too many fully engraved guns that I would spend my own money on.
