Now at Classic Firearms. What do you think of them?

Just bought a Type 53 this morning. Kinda wish I had waited for these.

They're a little expensive, but everything seems to be nowadays. If they're as clean as they look in the pictures, I'd shell out 220 clams. I just can't justify paying to have one sent to an FFL dealer.

    I wonder if they're counterbored?

i dont think those are new, just heavily refinished.

as cheap as real mosins are, making new ones would actually be relatively costly.

+1 Yes these are the same old refurbs coming out of long term storage, just with different import marks and coming from Russia instead of Ukraine.

They are a nice rifle but kick like a mule, just like the M44 but were never equipped with bayonets, nor meant to use them. If you want something to round out your Mosin collection then not too bad. AIM is supposed to get them also and may be cheaper.

So is it NOT my imagination that my Type 53 kicks more than my 91/30?

I emailed them, asking if it had been counterbored. The person responeded at 2am that they didnt know. I asked if they could check, and if not, are refunds offered. They said no.

The Soviets tended to counterbore most of their carbines, does not affect accuracy except improve it in many cases and does not affect value.
