    Are you serious?

This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a firearm within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a firearm.

The written notification only needs to include the names of the parent and any child attending the school and the fact that the parent owns a firearm.

No shit .. What the hell do they plan on doing with that information? Routine checks? Put them in a separate classroom? Have them on a different schedule? Why in the world would they need that type of information?

To wand your child at there discretion to make sure they do not carry part of your collection into a school. :tinfoil:

It's aimed at putting gun owners in the same category as criminals. It's also heavy-handed intimidation to discourage gun ownership. It's the kind of legislation that makes folks like Castro, Chavez, and the Chinese govt smile with glee.

    Wow.

As a gun owner, I don't feel discriminated against at all. This is totally logical. It's not like half of all Americans adults own a firearm, or something.

Am I the only one who thinks Senator Chappelle-Nadal has absolutely no clue how many of these forms would have to be submitted? Total ignorance.

Expect this to be proposed here soon.

Of course, if you are legally prohibited from having firearms in the first place, you are exempt from this registration requirement because that would be self-incrimination per the 5th (so says SCOTUS.)

This is messed up. Maybe the school authorities could use this parental gun information to tag the children as "higher risk." Perhaps a nice yellow six-point star. Kids like wearing nametags, right? A yellow star is a friendly shape, right?

I would love to see the look on someones face if a parent said yes and I own 50 guns. But aside from that there is no way in hell I would follow that. My kids school has no business knowing about ANYTHING I own.

Great idea, then the school knows where the closest gun is to call when the cops are 20 minutes away :D

"Hello Billy's dad, there's a lunatic shooting up the school..."

"I'll be there in 2 minutes *click "

nice way for them to equate gun owners with child molesters. Are they really that slow in the head? or are they cold and calculating?

Yep. You got it. Maybe a white arm band with a big blue star. I'm sure the school officials will want segregated kids to look fashionable.

Thats the only positive twist i could think of for this .. but know that it wont be used like that.

Now if they eliminate gun free zones, and were to use it as a "quick action call roster", that might be different.
