My daughter tried to buy a Sig P365 Rose from Midway USA today and got an error message that they cannot ship it to Maryland because it's not on the handgun roster. It took about a minute to google MD Handgun Roster and look up the Sig which is on the roster.
Out of curiosity I added a Colt Anaconda to the cart and got the same message.
Then I tried a Ruger gp100 and it went through, they would ship it. The Colt, Ruger and Sig are all on the roster.
She called their customer service and they simply told her they have the right to refuse to sell to Maryland because of the roster.
I liked Midway and have been a customer for over 40 years, not unusual for me to place an order over $1000, no more.
I thought they were a good company with their Roundup Program to the NRA but now their new best friends are Maryland anti-gun advocates, they're applauding them for not selling us handguns.
Probably won't do any good but tomorrow I'm emailing Colt and Sig asking them to send their harder to get handguns to dealers who are 2A friendly.

A friend of the NRA is not, necessarily, a friend to the 2A.

I might try Midway again tomorrow and see if it kicks it out again. Maybe it is a glitch?

Midway USA is NOT friends with the anti-2a people in Maryland. They just don't want to get sued by the Maryland AG.

Anti attorney generals from around the country take every opportunity to sue online retailers for even the slightest infraction, costing the retailer thousands in legal fees.

In the past, I have been able to speak to management at Midway to correct some misunderstandings that they had regarding Maryland laws.

That was 20 years ago and I had a commercial account with them. Today they might be too big to give a damn. :sad20:

Had the same thing happen to me last year on a S&W 1911 Mil-Spec. They couldn't find the exact model on the roster so refused to ship. It turned out to be a good thing for me because I walked into Anglers here in Annapolis and they had just gotten the gun in stock and were selling it $20 cheaper than the Midway price, and I avoided the transfer fees.

This doesn't surprise me, many places don't want to sell guns or even ammunition to Maryland. In 2013 I was trying to buy a couple handguns that were on the roster, before the hql went into effect. Several places would not sell me a handgun because we were in Maryland. Buds Gun Shop, who I used to buy plenty from before would not sell me handguns at all, or a semi-automatic shotgun. Like many of the other anti-2a States, Maryland's reputation precedes it

This is all just reason 999 why we started planing our escape from MD a decade before finally jettisoning the state in 2014.

I’d just buy from an IP here. Even if they don’t stock it they should be able to get one relatively quickly

The anti-2A people are certainly applauding Midway and online retailers for not selling to MD.
So who's concern is it if the handgun is on the roster?
My receiving FFL checks to see if a gun is legal to transfer in MD.
Then the make and model is entered on the 77R that goes to the MDS.
Midway spends mega$$ advertising. Every order I get a survey from them, it takes a few minutes to it fill out. It would take Midway about a minute to check the roster.
    Screw Midway.

Yes, that's what we'll do. We already had several offers for help, many good people here. Lesson learned.
I was just surprised by Midway's ignorance.

    Where they send me.
I can't fault Midway on this one. FFL's in this state are often stumped with the stupidity of md and don't always agree with each other.

Not getting mad at Midway on this one.

Unfortunately, the antis are putting enough businesses out of business without us helping them. I say try to educate the store to get them to change their minds.
Well, if they won't sell me a gun due to their stubbornness and refusal to do their job and be educated on the matter, I'll buy my other stuff elsewhere, too. They've proven they don't need our money.

By becoming paranoid and fearful, these retailers are helping the anti gunners along and should be boycotted for being bitches

It's an auto-boycott of their own making.

I hope you all know that this "boycott" mindset helps the antis too. Their goal is, and always has been: divide and conquer.

If anyone needs a boycott, it's the MGA and their ridiculous laws and handgun roster. But because of y'all's failure at root cause analysis (as well as a stereotypical American consumer mentality of instant gratification) , you're blaming Midway for wanting to stay in business so they can sell more guns and parts to everyone.

Get over yourselves. I'd bet that the OP went with Midway initially because they are cheaper than a LGS by a tiny amount of money. And only after not getting his way did he consider an LGS. I'd bet the next time he wants a gun, he will shop online again.
