The detachable high cap mag conversion of the Rem Model8 was done a Police Equip supplier/ gun dealer in Ft Worth. They were popular with peace officers through out Texas and the Southwest. The Rem Mdl8 was a favorite of Capt Frank Hammer , and he used a variety of them stock and converted , in different cals.

Back in the Day , Abercrombie & Fitch was on the short list of being THE sporting goods supplier of fishing and hunting gear , several knotches above a Cabela, including stocking high end custom guns. And a little clothing on the side. After the origional A&F went bankrupt , the current clothing company bought the rights to the name.

The other old line outfitter closest to their stature was Eddie Baeur . Not as much into the firearms , had camping equipment and clothing. Suitable on expeditions anywhere in the world from jungles to artic. By the 1970ks were starting to transition from no bs outdoorsman's gear , to fashonable , yet kinda outdoorsie and rugged looking.
