This is Bloombergs money behind this! You know, the mayor of NY who wants to ban all guns yet surrounds himself with locked and loaded security 24/7. What a F-ing hippocrit
I just watched the video, shows a clip from 1999 where the NRA says they were for background checks for all gun purchases event at gun shows. This is contrary to the NRA's current stance that we should be enforcing the laws already on the books.

My understanding on the "40%" is that it's an urban legend started by the Brady group, and that the real percentage is in the single digits and includes inheritance transfers and transfers between family members.

its from a phone study of 251 people about transfers done in 1993 & 1994. back ground checks didn't even become law until sometime in 94.
when the antis say universal background checks, those come with a registry and records of every transfer, for confiscation later. its all outlined in their playbook, like in the paper "imagining gun control in America : the remainder problem". the remaider problem are the guns that aren't registered and can't be found during confiscation.
when pro gun groups were for universal background checks, it was when they were to be anonymous without a permanent registry. but now that its been proven that the atf collects and photocopies dealer records and keeps an illegal regustry, in violation of the law, they want no part of it. and I agree.

I think that was their pitch, which isn't all that bad. It could have been a lot worse. Do hate that they were exploiting the heck out of kids though

Ya know, for once I agree with Bloomberg. We need background checks on firearm purchases. Then we wouldn't have all these NFL players violent criminals owning firearms.
