So I got my approved letter almost two months ago but never got anything else? Who should I be calling to say that they need to send me the actual card?

There is no card. Just the letter. You just check the box on your paperwork when making a gun purchase and that is it. You don't need to show a copy of the letter or anything.

Yes.

I keep a copy of my letter in my car gun safe.

May not mean much, but the MD statute allows you to move all or part of your collection for demo purposes. May be helpful in the event of an issue.

Final update on my situation:

Letter of approval received approx. 9/12

Still nothing for me...

Mailed 6/12
Sent certified with return receipt.
Return receipt signed 6/14

I emailed and received a response that application can't be found.

Begin again on 9/4, too late to help for pre 10/1 purchases.

I wonder who this person is who signed for the letter and where my app ended up.

I finally got wife to fill one out. Hers was received 9/11. She was wondering about approval time.

Mine has been active for years.

I got mine in May 2010. It seemed to have taken months at the time to get it. Now with folks getting theirs back in a couple of weeks, and in light of nearly 50,000 apps backlog, something seems a little fishy.

Like all forms it aides with the background check speed.

I thought that MSP just leaked 80K+ SS# on the 77R form? Without writen directions on the app it will be difficult for me to protect my own identity.

I received a return email from MSP Thomson last week she was up to "receive" date of 8/12/13. I am waiting very impatiently, she received mine just a couple of days after that.

I mailed mine Aug 10th. Received letter of approval on Sat. Sept 21. Exactly 6 weeks. Hope that helps.

I emailed Trooper Thompson yesterday. Included scans of my notarized application and return receipt from June. We shall see....

I think mine was dated about 10 days prior to the day I received it. Shouldn't be too much longer.
