I received my letter today, 30 August, as "Approved". I mailed it on 20 July, so that is 1 day short of 6 weeks turn around. The date on the letter itself is 28 August.

Now that I have this, do I photocopy it and show it when I make a regulated purchase or is my say-so confirmed as part of the background check?
    Goody goody gumdrops :)
I could be two weeks away from getting my DC then:party29:

Oh, I forgot to mention, I sent mine in around 7/12 (I didn't actually keep a record), but I know it was after 7/1 b/c I bought a lower that day and hasn't sent it in yet.

I must have gotten lucky with the quick turnaround.

Approval letter arrived today (8/30). Submitted my application on July 20. I have at least three NDs in the last three months... I feel like I won the lottery!

    No previous ND

Now, other than you can buy as many as you want without having to wait 30 days, what other benefits if any, for having it?

It makes easier to transport your guns legally.

Without DC status, if I wanted to visit my son-in-law at his house, then go to the range, I could not legally bring my gun to his house.

    With DC status, I can.

DC status allows you to move "part or all of the collector's gun collection from place to place for public or private exhibition..."

See paragraph (5) in the Maryland Code

Well, I'm certainly frustrated; sent around July 11th, with Officer Thompson recently telling me she never received my app. After numerous questions, particularly revolving around other people who have had no ND and those who have, and hoping that maybe mine was just in a logjam due to having made very recent purchases, she said:

"I have no idea what takes place on MD Shooters. I am not allowed to participate in that Blog. I can however answer your questions from 1st party, as I am the ONLY Trooper who designates collectors in the state. There is no such thing as 'no previous ND'."
