Last week I shipped off my Maryland collector's affidavit. If I were to purchase 2 regulated items, (I would have to wait 60 days) but received my letter recognizing my collector's status before the 60 days were complete, could I purchase again before the 60 days were up?

    yes,

I just did. On one of the forms it asks you if you are a collector, on the other it ask's you if you've recieved a regulated firearm in the past 30 days. If you answer yes to both and you have your collector license you're good to go.

Planning on putting mine to good use tomorrow. Bought a 44 mag last week and buying a 38 tomorrow.

"N/A" is the appropriate response for the question: If you are not a designated collector of regulated firearms, have you recieved a regulated weapon in the last 30 days?
