    I'd have to disagree ...there are more permit holders in this thread than non Leo/govt holders in nj....we have "justifiable need" ...NO ONE but Leo/retired Leo or extremely connected famous people have met the justifiable need requirement.....there have been cases of victims of violent crime that have continued death threats that appeal courts ruled didn't meet justifiable need....and they were advised to simply "call police when needed" smh

    At the time of IL passing their CCW law , John Lott's website refered to them as having the longest training period of any State at 16hrs.

    Prior to the IL CCW law , they had somthing else that functioned like a CCW . Every township , village , and seperatly every parks department within each one all had their own PD . Certain ones of them had large numbers of *Reserve Officers* that did very little to no LE work , but had 24/7 carry privledges.No vol police work isn'y supposed to be the same as a CCW , but In IL it was the only game in town , and the statewide numbers were comparitable to a lot of state's CCW issue percentages. A cpl years ago IL reformed this . Now have no arrest powers , and have to have 40hrs training.
