    Oh no, black powder can be shot anywhere. The muzzle-loader folks seem to congregate more to the left, though.

    There's an exemption that allows muzzleloaders to load behind the line, so you'll see them with their gear set up on those little 16" square tables behind the line, but that can be any point along the line. (Still have to be on the line facing downrange to cap or prime, though.)

    Marriottsville is very muzzle-loader friendly.

    I haven't shot muzzleloaders myself in years. 20 -25 years ago was my most active black powder period.

    The reason most black powder shooters shoot in the area in front of the control tower (the building were the soda machine is) is that MML's storage room is in that building. They hold their matches in that area so they like to practice in that area as well. Just make sure you are on the correct side of the orange poles!

    If it goes bang you can shoot it at the AGC
