Went out to the range yesterday to site in my new Savage 220 and this Marlin 983T .22mag that is giving me issues.

    I had 2 problems.
    1. I loaded 10rnds and only 5 fired correctly. Hammer did strike but no boom. I know that i could have bad ammo but 1 out of 2 seem like high odds to me for Remington.

    2. Most would not eject. Some did and some didnt. When i would pull the bolt back, the spent cartridge would just sit there and when i lightly touched it, it would fall out.

    Any suggestions?

Let me know if more pictures of the rifle would help.

Looks like a healthy firing pin strike. I suspect the ammo may be the problem. Have you tried other stuff in that rifle like CCI, Federal, or Winchester?

Sometimes you just get a bad batch of rimfire ammo. I once bought a brick of Remington CB ammo that was awful. Misfires and squib loads aplenty.

I've had a few problems with Remington .22 lr (I know you're referring to .22 Mag.). As already stated, I'd try CCI or Federal Auto Match. They're much better than Remington in my experience. Of course finding it is another issue.
