    Interesting about the bad blood.

Well if you want to see MDS go full retard just pass the info to Rogers, he and his trolls will f-up this forum faster then you can blink. Im sure he will draw in a few idiots here to join in on the retardation as well.

Anyone have any experience with the Sig 1911s? They seem to be just a tad outside of his price range ($800+?). I'm also curious as I was leaning towards buying a RIA Tactical at some point, but I'm willing to save up a bit if 2-300 dollars makes *that* much of a difference for a gun that I'd buy as my first foot forward into the world of 1911s.

I read more bad than good on the Sigs. All internets stuff, so take it for what it's worth.

No, its based in reality. U.S. Made SIG's (New Hampshire Marked) have spotty quality. I have seen it countless times.

IMHO you would be better off with a RIA than a SIG 1911, Im not joking.

Heres my opinion in order from lowest to highest (Current Production, remeber this is my CURRENT advice, brands always change for the best or worse, so next month or year this list may not be the same):

    Kimber 1911
    Springfield 1911
    Para Ordnance 1911
    SIG 1911
    RIA/American Classic 1911
    Taurus 1911
    STI 1911
    Smith and Wesson 1911
    Colt 1911
    Ed Brown 1911
    Wilson Combat 1911
    Les Baer 1911
    Nighthawk 1911

Then Custom Built 1911, by an experienced Smith, based on a solid, well built Frame and Slide, preferrably a Colt.

Chad, that would be sad. Glad I picked someone else to build my gun.

So Chad, as far as functionality, how does the American Classic II compare to the S&W?
I am leaning towards the S&W, but I'd just like some details haha
    Thanks :D

The American Classic has a medium polish Blued finish and it can rust easily, most S&W 1911's are stainless or epoxy coated of some sort. The S&W will have a better trigger out of the box, and the S&W has a lifetime warranty, so you can shoot the hell out of it and never pay a cent for repairs, just for shipping to S&W. The A.C. will not have a warranty past one year at most shops, and youll pay a Smith if it has issues. Stainless guns require good lube or the metal will gall, standard steel/blued guns are more forgiving to lubes.

Both will suit your needs well. I prefer the S&W.

Sounds to me like S&W is the clear choice. Seems like it will be worth the extra money :D:thumbsup:

What about that funkey external extractor on the smith &Wesson. Is the slide the only non typical part??? The accuracy is so so on the new E series, but they do look good.

Clandestine, you put Taurus above RIA, why is Taurus a better deal then RIA? What do you think of the Alloy rail guns? I've eyed them around but have always heard bad things about taurus, and I was wondering if they were worth the higher price of the RIA Tacticools'. Also who ever did my Trijicons on my RIA at Scott's about 3 months ago did a great job, much better then I anticipated.

I did the sights on that 1911 if it was done 3 months ago. I used to do almost all of the handgun work there.

Taurus makes some real junk, but the guns they do well are Their Single Action Army Copies, the 1911's, and the 92 Beretta Clones. The fit and finish is simply better on the Taurus 1911 over the RIA, the taurus also has an accessory rail and the RIA didnt until recently. The only thing I despise about the taurus is the internal lock in the hammer. A good C&S kit will kill that junk though. :)

Slide is the only part that non typical, and they did a good job on the extractor design IMHO, unlike other manufactureres who tried it in the past. :innocent0

I guess it's time to save up for a S&W or get a RIA and split the difference on ammo. Should've hopped on that group buy...
