Looking at this SIG upper

16", gas piston, adjustable, 5.56, blah blah, you can see in the link.

I've always been a SIG fan and am looking at this upper for my AR build.

I see it's only $900.... I would have figured it was worth way more, am I mistaken? Anyone want to talk me out of it? Anyone have any experience with this upper?

Edit: Looked at the SIG website, they have MSRP of 1,100, so I guess this site is just selling it cheap.

Lots of piston designs on the market now, so prices have steadily decreased of late. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to go for a sig upper if I were inclined to go piston.

I have plenty of ak's and a couple sks' as well, though, so I'm good to go.

Yeah, I've been a fan of SIG and was just afraid to buy it and find out it's cheap for a reason!

I'm just looking at the upper. The upper can be put on my lower (Purchased pre-ban) without any issues. HBAR only is for anything with a lower on it.

I was under the impression a gas piston upper isn't a copycat anyway, so it's exempt whether it's HBAR or not.

Is that incorrect?

Gray area. I know that some IP's are selling piston guns. I haven't seen anything "official" on it....

and as long as you have at least one pre-10/1 lower upon which you can install it.

if you don't have any lowers from before the ban, i wouldn't buy anything that would turn a legal HBAR/rimfire/piston(?) rifle into a "banned configuration". could turn out very painful for you in the end. pun there.
