Picked up my ruger today at Gun Connection. Talked to Dan and he told me "If you've been waiting loner than thirty days, come pick up your gun".

They told me that they contacted MSP and stated that anything purchased after 1 May would be issued early release. They are clearing out all holds prior to 1 October. Dan seems to be closing up shop soon; moving to Texas.

PS, from the MSP conference recently held for dealers etc., seems many FFL's are up in arms over new law coming to our doorstep. Overheard conversations about what's legal and what isn't. The law is 10 times worse than I had initially thought. Cant wait to leave MD.

Picked up a stripped lower and revolver from 2A Sales yesterday. Talked to Mark, and they've changed the 30 day rule down to 2 weeks. Still need to sign a waiver.

I thought I read in a previous post that a NRA lawyer was one of the culprits advising Gunrunners ( and maybe all of the FFLs) not to participate in the 8 day release. Could that be true? If it is, would the NRA be doing that to strengthen their case on 10/1? I went back to find the post but couldn't find it. Maybe it was a nightmare.

My understanding from talking to Bob & Fred is that they hire or have an NRA attorney on retainer.

That attorney is advising Bob not to release without a "letter" from the ATF, similar to guidance ATF gave to CA earlier this year.

This is what I was told in June, so things may have changed.

Overall though, I believe that we're talking about a more localized fallout from a few lawyers advising their clients on what they think is legally defensible/winnable if something were to happen vs. a larger conspiracy or political move.

Man, I thought Bob would come around after BPS made up their minds to release. If the largest FFL in the state is releasing...one that probably does more paperwork in a week than GunRunners does in a year, I'd think he'd be covered (sarcasm).

Continental said they have a meeting with msp in 2 weeks. They said they should know more then. It sounds like they see some law in the books that they are afraid of. State says it is ok but feds don't, I may have that backwards. Seems they want to get HQL waved rather then a 8 day release. I don't think money has anything to do with it other than fear of losing their ffl.

Does anyone know if I can transfer out of there if my paper was already sent?
Could I just get my money back if my paperwork has been sent? Legally, not their policy.

I talked to the owner earlier this week and she was cool with doing transfers to another FFL. If you want to cancel the transaction altogether it's going to cost you 15% of the full purchase price plus a $75 paperwork processing fee.

I have an interesting legal question.

If you have had guns purchased before, well before, Oct. 1st. And, the FFL does not give you your guns, as allowed by current law, before Oct. 1st. And, your are forced to go through the licensing expense and finger printing, etc. Can you sue the FFL for your expenses and pain and suffering?

    I would do this!!!

I cannot understand why the Feds would care. After all, in American states (not the DPRMD), you can walk in and out following a background check and showing a driver's license. My dad just purchased an XDm 40 in Ohio, and walked out with his pistol after about 15 minutes. So why would the Feds insist MD residents submit an HQL? Man, why isn't the Federal government doing more to defend the Constitution from separatist, socialist states?

I agree, although right or wrong, what the MD FFLs are concerned about is that in your valid example, a NICS number is obtained when your FFL calls that special number.

The problem as the MD FFLs not releasing see it is that they're afraid that by not putting a NICS number down they're going to get in trouble.

my thought about leaving md is we need to try to make change of the government, if we leave then we take votes away. I may be naive but i would like to think my vote counts and will make change.

Was in Blue Fins today to pick up my new HBAR and talked to owner. Having a HGL to pick up guns after Oct. 1 for guns already in the pipeline was "The last straw."

Says he will be releasing all (after 8+ days) starting Monday. Not sure on other details like waiver yet since he just changed his mind and is still refining the process. But told me I could transfer in regulated handgun and I'd get it in two weeks.

Love those guys. Really nice people.

Expect Gunrunners to start moving through the backlog and release without NICS. Bob will call when he gets to your date.

Apparently at a recent meeting a BATF rep said verbally it was ok (with >100 witnesses there) and that is causing many of the hold outs (not just Gunrunners) to start releasing in order (longest wait gets first call). *** The worst thing that could happen is for people to flood the phones or the store and hold up working through the backlog in an orderly manner ***

I was there at closing today. I was hesitant to post this because I don't want to flood their phones on Tuesday, but wanted to give a glimmer of hope to my fellow enthusiasts.

Excellent news. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow. Dave and Jamie (this has been said a million times over) are some of the nicest folks in town.

If only Sam at the cop shop would follow suit... Anyone have any luck with this shop? I really like Sam, but having to wait because he's unwilling to release after 8 days blows.

Good news. I usually do transfers there but was looking at other FFLs due to their release policy. Ran into Fred yesterday at the Post Office, and he said that his new employer in Florida wanted him to start sooner than originally planed, so he'll be gone in two weeks. Bob's going to be even busier manning the phones and taking care of paperwork.
