There's been a lot of misinformation about our bill to prevent gun violence in Maryland. Here are three important facts.
1. We are licensing handguns, NOT hunting rifles. We are committed to protecting hunters and their traditions.
2. We are not trying to ban handguns. This law protects legal gun ownership. It is designed to stop criminals from buying guns.
3. The proposals are consistent with the Constitution. As Attorney General Doug Gansler explains, “law-abiding gun owners have nothing to fear." Our proposals “do not allow for confiscation of guns nor could they” under Supreme Court precedent.
Please share these facts.
