I sure as hell wouldn't have any respect for a country that made an agreement not to invade my country then turn right around and get greedy. But all in all, yes its a shame that a few extra steps were not taken to preserve these fine bolt rifles.

4MDGunRights: Look on gunbroker.com for the sight hood, rod and sling. I got all 3 in a package for like $40 shipped. Just make sure to get a 12¼" rod, anything over 12¼" you will not be able to affix a bayonet and anything under 12¼" will just look plain tacky. :lol2:

That is sooo nice, if I dont pick something up at york I might have to bite on one. Dont know where Ill put it but..........

This thread shows how my RC Mauser looked when it arrived (original posting) and what it looks like now. I am currently installing a Huber Concepts service match trigger to improve its performance.

    Is that scope mount reversible?
Were you not able to remove shellac and preserve the finish below it?
What are you going to do to the wood?

No, the mount is not reversible. The front fits in the slot used by the original rear sight. I didn't try, I had DGR refinish it for me. He uses Deft Danish oil finish; DeftOil is a mixture of tung oil and urethane. The stock is a late war stock identified by the lack of a cleaning rod hole, while the Oberndorf receiver is dated 1941.
