Judge made a mistake IMHO. This kid is not the average law abiding citizen...

The kid is only 24 and already racked up a few arrest in the last 8 years:

    drug possession
    simple assault
    driving while intoxicated
    driving with a suspended license

None of which were prohibiting felonies.

Doesn't exactly sound like a poster child for CCW though.

Not a poster child but he met the requirements set forth by the state... it appears the police chief used discretion he did not legally have to deny the permit. This is a win if you look at it as an upholding of law to prevent arbitrary judgement of fitness for a permit

The applicant is not exactly squeaky clean, but apparently he meets the qualifications to receive a permit in New Hampshire. The law is the law.

I agree. You cannot allow carry permits to be subject to the opinion of the person issuing them. Whether or not he's got a record, if he doesn't meet the "Don't Issue" criteria, you gotta give him a permit. You can't deny someone a right just because one person thinks it might not be a great idea.
