I have a basement and some bedrooms that need to have the (nearly new) carpeting re stretched. Hoping to find a carpet installer who is looking for a side job and hoping they have access to a mechanical stretcher.

Located in Sykesville/Eldersburg. PM if interested.

If yow are up for the work Lowes/HD sells (maybe rents?) the hand tool. I've done it under the online guidance of @outrider58.

But he may be on MDS hiatus celebrating retirement.

    Good luck.
Thanks, but some things just turn out better when left to the pro's. In my experience, carpet is one of those things. That is, with the exception of the pro's who installed this carpet the first time. They obviously sucked.

You need to find an installer who uses a pole stretcher. If you strike out, PM me.

    You mean one of these?

    Yes.
Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't recommend attempting it yourself. 90% of the carpet mechanics out there don't know how to use them properly. It's your carpet and your call though. Good luck.

Yeah, I agree. I will try most things, but not this. I have had a few guys reach out, none of them use one of these tools. I'll keep searching.

Thanks. I sent them an inquiry.
Where in Carroll are you? Never mind, Sykes/Elders.

I know the owner here: He doesn't do the work, but you can ask him for good subs.

Also, Mercer Carpet One and Traynors in Westminster, Towne Pride in Hampstead,

Hole chit! That power stretcher is quite the chit!
I gotta keep this in mind.

From what I recall carpet is weaved longitudinal. Then splay it out.

    Shit.
    Where should I start.
Mexico if you are into the basic.
England/Euro if you are into the weird.

That's all I have and suggest retreating to chase after that widow.
It appears I'm better off listening to Austin Powers.
