Ran into this little gem, and it seems almost like it's made up:
"Civilian ownership of firearms in the US threatens the legitimate powers monopoly of the state" —UN spokesperson, during the Great UN Gun Debate at King's College in July of 2001
See what I mean? It's almost too perfect.
BTW (just reminded me of this), if you have the opportunity to see the cannon demonstration at Harper's Ferry, do so. You just take the tour bus up to the artillery hilltop and wait, I think. Not only was watching the cannon operate fun, but the speech the tour guide gave was priceless. Something like "Do you know what this is? This is a high effective tool for political negotiation," etc.
