Wow thanks everyone for your input! It appears I got a lot to think on.
LWRC Reaper
Shit for that price they should have real wood furniture!
oh shit, I forgot about the REPR.
But he wants a 5.56
Still, GO WITH THE REPR
Personally I would go to Engage and let them build you a custom rifle.

Second on Engage ! They Rock !
This!
This seems to be a popular suggesion. A lot of people recomend them here. I might have to pay them a visit.
I know I'm not supposed to say this but if I had two grand to spend and had no AR..........I would buy a Colt (who are probably going to sell you a better and milspec rifle for 800 bucks than some alphabet company's overpriced parts gun that costs twice as much), get a Giesselle trigger for it, and use the remaining grand to buy myself a nice real WW2-made M1 Carbine (which are climbing in value rapidly and soon to be out of reach for many I fear).
And as others have said, Andy's rifles at Engage are awesome too and worth every penny.
But if I blew my two grand on an alphabet company rifle I would cry myself to sleep.
Just my .02.

I bought two E4's from Engage and would Trust My Life with either one !
Gotta go with the crowd. Go to engage and get a rifle built just as you want it.
I suggest a Nitrided barrel in a twist that suits your preferred projectiles. 1/8 seems to be a crowd pleaser, but myself I almost always opt for 1/9 because all I ever shoot is 62 grain and under
Engage SBR with suppressor. Go big or go home.
Engage. Bought my first AR from them and would highly highly recommend them
Another vote for engage

That's about a perfect idea.
This is my suggestion also. I have a MOD 1. A KAC SR15 LPR would be with be another one to look at.
Also check out Precision Firearms. A friend has a SPR style rifle with a Bartlein cut rifle barrel and shoots bugholes.
Buy a Colt HBAR Carbine and put a Geissele in it. Colt barrels often shoot VERY well.
My Classes show people how often Boutique Rifles fail tests and gauging.
Colt has done some silly things with ARs in the past ,but Colt does the AR right.

Are we there yet?

A Windham Dissipator is a nice Carbine too.

Build it yourself! It's very easy. YouTube has multiple videos on how to do it. Use the extra $$$ to buy ammo. Or a Glock!
